Granmé (2021–24, 04:30 min) is a deeply moving video painting that draws viewers into an intimate dialogue between the artist and her Vodou priestess grandmother. Through a layered interplay of evocative sounds and vivid imagery, the work explores the profound exchange of ancestral wisdom, bridging generations and cultural legacies. Presented as the centerpiece of a larger multimedia installation, Granmé serves as a conduit between the past and the future, seamlessly intertwining spiritual traditions with cutting-edge technology.

In this piece, the artist examines themes of telekinesis, ancestral knowledge, and Afrofuturism, crafting a narrative that reframes perceptions of race, sexuality, and human potential. By merging ancient Vodou practices with innovative digital tools, Granmé redefines the boundaries of identity and heritage. This fusion of tradition and modernity offers a visionary glimpse into how spiritual and cultural practices may transform, prompting viewers to reflect on their own connections to history and progress. More than a conversation, the video is an exploration of the transformative power of spirituality, the resilience of cultural identity, and the boundless potential of the human mind. Granmé invites audiences to witness the coexistence of time-honored rituals and futuristic imaginings, creating a harmonious space where the sacred and the technological meet.
